About
Moksi, a captivating indie soul duo from the mountains of New Mexico, was founded by Delaney Davis, who after a decade-long solo career and two studio albums, was joined by her wife Valorie on percussion in 2021. Their shared journey has been nothing short of a rollercoaster, marked by Delaney’s battle with chronic Lyme disease casting shadows of uncertainty over their path. Yet, it is precisely through these challenges that Moksi finds its strength and purpose, or its “moxie”, serving as a testament to their love, strength, and perseverance.
Drawing inspiration from the rich natural landscape of New Mexico and the raw emotions of their everyday lives and struggles, Moksi’s music weaves together haunting melodies, heartfelt lyrics, and captivating performances. They create a tapestry of connection, inviting listeners to delve into the depths of their own emotions. Beyond simply entertaining, their music becomes a conduit for healing and transformation, raising the collective vibration and spreading love, light, and positivity. Their sound, reminiscent of a deep connection to the natural world, is a fusion of indie folk, soul and Americana, creating an immersive sonic experience that resonates deeply with their audiences.
Now, after eight years since Delaney’s last solo album, Moksi is on the brink of releasing a highly anticipated full-length project. This forthcoming album represents not only the culmination of the growth and maturity within their relationship and music, but also greatly touches on Delaney’s honest and emotional health journey. Through their music and presence, they aim to bring much needed awareness to the life-altering devastation of Lyme disease, offering solace to those in need.
Driven by a shared mission to uplift and inspire through their story and music, Moksi is an example of the transformative power of love and determination. Each note is infused with the essence of their journey and strength together, creating an intimate connection with audiences far and wide.
